Working with kids and finding inspiration from the environment are two of my favourite things. My Summer sewing classes are a great opportunity to combine these two things into a crafty experience.
Animated films and Japanese films in particular are some of my top visuals to get inspired by so it gives me great pleasure to work on 2 Studio Ghibli creations this August- Arrietty and Kiki’s Delivery Service.
The concept in Chapter Arts Centre in Canton, Cardiff is this: watch a film, then get inspired with a Summer Sewcial Class. Kids will learn and develop sewing skills in a fun 2-hour post screening sewing workshop.
The Arrietty workshop wil look at making mini clothes plus a Japanese inspired bandana which is people size whilst the Kiki’s Delivery Service makes will focus on more kid’s size clothing.
For £15, kids get to watch the film and get sewing but need to bring snacks and lunch with them. The session runs from 10.30 until 3.30 and the time just flies by!
They are ideal for beginners or intermediate sewers aged 8–12. You can book direct through Chapter.
Am loving August!
